Elon Musk has once again become a trillionaire as rising valuations of SpaceX and Tesla boosted his personal fortune. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s wealth increased by $65 billion on Monday to reach $1.04 trillion, making him the world’s richest person.
The sharp rise came as shares in both companies gained strongly at the beginning of October. SpaceX shares have climbed 13% since the start of the month, while Tesla shares have risen 6.7%, increasing the value of Musk’s holdings in the two companies.
Elon Musk Returns to Trillionaire Club
The latest increase marks the first time in three months that Musk’s wealth has crossed the trillion-dollar threshold again. The 55-year-old technology entrepreneur had previously become the world’s first trillionaire in June after SpaceX recorded a surge following its record-setting initial public offering.
However, his fortune declined soon afterward as SpaceX shares fell amid concerns over the company’s high valuation. By late July, Musk had lost more than $600 billion from his peak wealth, a decline that was larger than the entire net worth of any person who had appeared on Bloomberg’s list of the 500 richest people, apart from Musk himself.
SpaceX And Tesla Drive Latest Gains
The latest recovery in Elon Musk wealth has been supported by renewed investor optimism surrounding both SpaceX and Tesla. Stronger market performance at the two companies has translated directly into higher valuations for Musk’s substantial stakes.
SpaceX has been a major contributor to the recent rally. Its shares have rebounded 58% from an August low, reflecting growing interest in the company’s businesses across space, artificial intelligence and social media.
On Monday, analysts at Morgan Stanley described SpaceX as one of the more cost-effective ways for investors to gain exposure to what they called the “strong optionality” of the space and intelligence sectors.
The renewed rise highlights how quickly Elon Musknet worth can change with movements in the companies that make up much of his wealth. With SpaceX and Tesla shares continuing to perform strongly, his return to trillionaire status underscores the significant influence of market valuations on the billionaire’s fortune.
