Lorena’s husband started first as a Realtor and inspired her to be a Loan officer. He always worked helping many immigrants seeking the American dream of becoming a homeowner and had some challenges with getting them approved and Lorena wanted to be able to help in the lending part. Lorena shares that PRMG is a wonderful place to work. It was built by loan officers for loan officers and she has a lot of support and many resources that help with the processing part. She also has a close relationship with the branch managers which has inspired her throughout the years to be a loan officer that excels. They always believed in and supported her growth.

Lorena mostly serves the Brazilian community with a variety of loan options that will fit their sometimes-limited resources. As a Loan Officer, she always strives to continue to search for lending options that will help them and focus on their needs and always provide excellent customer service. Her biggest challenge is when she can’t find a loan option for a client. Having access to many lenders, sometimes she can’t find their financial options and they have to go through a lengthy preparation process.

To serve as a Loan Officer, Lorena believes one has to be confident in what they do, build trust with clients, and believe in their abilities and their potential to strive for the best. They need to be knowledgeable and continue with innovation to expand their resources and stay on top of new information and markets that are constantly changing. One also needs to be creative and develop an organized CRM, be resilient, know how to handle difficult situations, and communicate effectively and clearly. They also need to be humble and open to learning from others and be passionate about what they do.

“Being able to serve others, helping clients accomplish their dreams while keeping a work environment that has respect for each other, keeping positivity, gentleness and kindness throughout the day knowing people around us go through challenges that we’re not always aware so it’s always important to be nice,” says Lorena.

“When we love, we reflect God’s image, as love is the foundation of all His commandments. Without it, we fall short. One of the best ways to show others they are valued is by giving them our time. For this reason, I believe it’s essential to respond promptly, understand their unique situations, clarify their questions, and work closely with them throughout the process. I strive to take every opportunity to do good in each interaction,” says Lorena.

She also supports diversity and inclusion in the workplace by actively promoting an environment where everyone feels respected and valued. She encourages open dialogue and ensures that different perspectives are heard and appreciated also mentors individuals from diverse backgrounds, and supports initiatives that drive inclusion.

Challenges and Hopes for the Next Years

In the next few years, Lorena sees that mortgage rates are expected to continue to fall, which has a significant impact on the qualification process, technology innovation will embrace digital origination.

There are many challenges in the process like credit changes, opening or closing lines can impact a borrower’s score which affects eligibility, employment issues frequent job changes, appraisal results such as value or property’s condition, inaccurate information on a mortgage application, paperwork delays, and document gathering. The solution, she suggests, is in the preparation process to help clients understand the process and what to expect, enhance communication and be very organized. Lorena sees her role as one to continue to build solid foundations to provide top-notch services from the beginning of the relationship to beyond the closing.
