Artificial intelligence-focused technology stocks have come under pressure in recent months as investors question whether the industry’s massive investments in AI infrastructure will generate sustainable returns. Among the companies feeling the impact are Oracle and Nvidia, whose shares have declined significantly over the past three months.
Oracle’s stock has fallen nearly 28%, while Nvidia has slipped around 9%, reflecting broader concerns that the pace of AI-related spending may be outstripping near-term revenue opportunities. The sell-off has prompted some investors to reconsider their exposure to the sector, but analysts argue that the long-term outlook may warrant a more measured approach.
Nvidia Shares Under the Spotlight
A key source of investor concern revolves around Nvidia Shares growing involvement in financing AI infrastructure projects alongside supplying the hardware that powers them.
The chipmaker is reportedly in discussions with OpenAI regarding a funding package worth up to $250 billion to support the development of large-scale data centers. At the same time, Nvidia is expected to play a major role in supplying the graphics processing units (GPUs) required to operate those facilities.
Some investors view this dual role with caution, questioning whether Nvidia’s future revenue growth will increasingly depend on helping finance customer infrastructure rather than relying solely on organic demand for its products.
Big Infrastructure Deals Raise Questions
Investor concerns have also been fueled by Nvidia’s recently announced $500 billion AI infrastructure partnership with South Korea’s SK Group, the parent company of memory chip manufacturer SK Hynix.
While the agreement underscores Nvidia’s commitment to expanding global AI infrastructure, some shareholders worry that the company is allocating substantial financial resources to accelerate ecosystem development. Critics argue that these investments could weigh on profitability if the expected demand for AI computing fails to materialize at the anticipated pace.
Long-Term Fundamentals Remain Intact
Despite the recent decline in share prices, many market observers believe it is premature to abandon either Nvidia or Oracle. Both companies remain central players in the rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, with Oracle strengthening its cloud infrastructure capabilities and Nvidia Shares continuing to dominate the market for AI accelerators.
Although short-term volatility is likely to persist as investors evaluate the returns from unprecedented AI spending, the broader digital transformation and growing enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence continue to provide a strong long-term growth narrative.
For long-term investors, the recent pullback may represent a period of uncertainty rather than a signal to exit these technology leaders altogether.
